Real Ale Recognition for Corby Town

Breaking News: Real Ale buffs from that CAMRA have finally recognised Corby Town as (one of) the real ale capital(s) of Northamptonshire following a recent whistle-stop bus tour of the county. Correctly guessing that the Saxon Cross is the only real ale outlet in the town (centre) before whistling off to nearby Wellingborough nr Corby for a few end of day extras.

Of course locals and myself are aware that real ale doesn’t stop at the town centre borderline, with the good stuff equally available at the Cardigan Arms in the village, as well as the Samuel Lloyd on the Rockingham (and Steel Park Football) side of town, as well as numerous cask strongholds in and near Great Oakley including the historic Knights Lodge and Spread Eagle.

Bless Dickie Bird for the writeup, and Mick Slaughter for the research.
